Privacy
Your data and your choices.
Who we are
saysub is an independent Mac app operated by Quiet Method Ltd, company number 17406115, the controller of the personal data described here. Our registered office is 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, United Kingdom, WC2H 9JQ. For anything in this policy, email [email protected].
What we collect, and why
If you join the waitlist under the current signup wording, we store three things: your email address, the time you signed up or renewed your consent, and the version of the signup wording you saw. We use them to send occasional emails about saysub's development, early access, launch, and major product updates. We do not send promotions for anyone else's products or services. The legal basis is your consent.
Support and feedback
If you email us for support or send feedback, we receive your email address, your message, and anything you deliberately attach. A bug-report draft can include app and build versions, macOS version, processor architecture, interface language, and whether the previous session may not have closed normally. The draft is shown in your email app first, so you can edit or remove any of it. saysub does not automatically send crash reports, analytics, captions, media, file names or paths, licence details, or logs.
We use support correspondence to answer you, investigate problems, prevent recurring faults, and improve saysub. Where the message concerns a purchase, licence, or requested support, the legal basis is taking steps at your request or performing our contract with you. For voluntary product feedback and improving reliability, it is our legitimate interest in developing and securing the product. Support email is hosted in Google Workspace, provided by Google Cloud EMEA Limited in Ireland. It processes sender addresses, messages, and attachments on our behalf to operate the mailbox. Google may process this data in any country where it or its subprocessors maintain facilities. Its Cloud Data Processing Addendum describes the applicable transfer safeguards, including standard contractual clauses where required, and identifies its subprocessors.
We keep to the signup promise you choose
If you ask only for one launch announcement, we will use your address only for that email unless you later choose to receive broader product updates. Every record carries the signup promise shown on its form so we can keep those choices separate.
Where it lives
The list sits in a database at Cloudflare, the company that also serves this site. An email delivery provider may process your address only to deliver these messages and manage bounces and unsubscribes; we will name that provider here before the first email is sent. These providers act on our behalf and get no right to use the list for their own purposes.
When you visit the website, Cloudflare receives your IP address and request information to deliver pages and protect the service. We rely on our legitimate interest in operating a secure website for this processing; our waitlist database does not store IP addresses. Cloudflare operates internationally, including in the United States. Its data-processing terms describe applicable transfer safeguards, including standard contractual clauses and the UK transfer addendum. Contact us for information about safeguards relevant to your data.
Website analytics and your choices
We do not sell your information or use analytics for advertising. The saysub app sends no analytics or automatic crash reports. This website sets no cookies and makes no requests to anyone but Cloudflare. We do not keep referral or campaign information in your browser or assign persistent visitor identifiers.
Where optional website analytics is available, it stays off until you choose Allow analytics. If you allow it, Cloudflare Web Analytics measures page views, visits, referring websites, approximate country, browser and device categories, and page performance to help us improve the website. We rely on your consent for this optional collection. This choice is separate from permission to receive emails. We do not link these reports to your email address, waitlist record or app licence.
Cloudflare’s browser beacon does not use cookies or local browser storage. We save only your analytics choice, its notice version, the language shown and the time of your decision in local storage on your device. The theme toggle also saves its preference locally. Neither preference is sent to an analytics provider. We keep analytics off when your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, even if you previously allowed it.
Use Analytics settings in the footer of the homepage, guides or this policy to allow, decline or withdraw your permission. Opening the notice, dismissing it, or continuing to browse does not count as consent. If a beacon is already loaded, withdrawing permission reloads the page to remove it. Data already sent cannot be recalled and requests already in progress may finish. The saved refusal prevents the beacon from loading on subsequent pages. If your browser cannot save a choice, it applies only to the current page.
When a new subscriber joins, we count the language of the submitted signup form by date: English, Traditional Chinese, or unknown. This happens independently of the analytics choice, including without JavaScript. It is the page language, not your nationality or preferred language. These totals contain no email address or connection to a subscriber record. Repeat submissions and consent renewals do not add to the count. We do not infer language for existing subscribers or record where individual subscribers came from. Our purpose and legitimate interest are understanding which signup pages are used and improving the website.
Cloudflare also provides server-side traffic statistics from the website requests it handles. We may use its aggregate reports to operate and improve the website. These reports are separate from the optional browser analytics. We do not use either to build individual browsing histories or target advertising.
How long we keep it
If you asked for product updates, we keep your record until you unsubscribe, we wind down the product-update list, or 24 months pass without us sending an email to the list — whichever happens first. If you asked only for one launch announcement, we keep it only until that announcement has gone out and the waitlist is wound down, unless you unsubscribe sooner. Every email includes a simple way to unsubscribe.
We normally delete identifiable support and feedback correspondence 12 months after the last interaction. We may keep it longer where reasonably necessary for an unresolved dispute, security investigation, or legal obligation. We may keep a feature idea or a record of a resolved fault after removing details that identify you.
Our signup reports cover the most recent six months; older aggregate totals are deleted when a new signup is processed or during monthly maintenance. These counts are not linked to your email address, so unsubscribing does not remove a contribution from the totals.
Cloudflare’s browser-analytics reports are available for the previous six months. We do not keep a separate event-level copy. Withdrawing analytics permission stops future collection; it does not remove information already included in reports that we cannot trace to your email.
Your analytics choice is saved for this notice version for 180 days, unless you change it or clear browser storage sooner. After it expires, analytics stays off until you allow it again.
Your rights
You can ask for access to your personal data, correction, deletion, restriction of processing or a portable copy where the relevant right applies. Email [email protected]; we may ask for proportionate information to confirm your identity. We consider requests from everyone, wherever they live. You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or your local supervisory authority where applicable.
Withdrawing consent and objecting
You can withdraw email consent at any time, including before our first email, by contacting [email protected] or using an unsubscribe link. This stops future marketing and does not affect the lawfulness of earlier use based on your consent. You do not need to receive marketing to use saysub.
Where we rely on legitimate interests for voluntary feedback or product-reliability work, you can ask us to stop using your personal data for that purpose. Email [email protected] and tell us what you object to. We will stop unless we have a compelling lawful reason to continue, such as establishing or defending a legal claim.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the version and effective date below. If the signup promise changes, we will not treat a policy update as fresh consent.
